Child
care centres providing infant care services cater to children aged
between 2 months to 18 months. These centres provide full day and
half-day care programme for the infants/toddlers.
In
addition to providing working parents with reliable care services,
centre based infant care providers strive to meet and develop the
physical, cognitive and psychosocial needs of the infant in a safe
and conducive environment. As specialised training is an important
requisite for staff working with infants, infant care centres are
required to employ a state registered nurse or qualified infant
care teacher to attend to the health and safety requirements of
the infants.
The
Ministry regulates and licenses child care programmes through the
Child Care Centres Act and Regulations. It also governs child care
programmes incorporating infant care services. Child care centres
providing infant care services are required to comply with other
requirements as
specified in the guideline.
